A Favourite Photo - The Wedding Dance Photo
- It’s not about the couple -
The wedding dance is one of those classic moments of anticipation at a wedding; a kind of ‘must do!’ for couples, if only to satisfy the wedding juggernaut they are a part of. Ah, there’s me being all cynical and grumpy again!
Of course, the dance is a cool moment even if some couples might not enjoy the spotlight (quite literally in some cases). Many couples last no more than 30 seconds before desperately urging their guests to join them.
For me, a shot or two of the couple is a given, but it’s always important and often more revealing to look past the couple towards the guests - it’s often here where the story and emotion are. That’s why I like this photo. It’s a simple picture, that tells the story directly, the tears of the bridesmaid get us straight to the heart of the matter.
Wedding photography like this is often easy, but dancing is not.
