Children’s birthday party photography

- Nina’s first birthday -

Recently I spent an evening scrolling through my archives and came across this children’s birthday party photography session I photographed back in the Spring of 2019.

It was Nina’s first birthday and naming ceremony rolled into one, and her parents planned a really chilled celebration with loved ones that was full of colour, readings and informality.

Looking through the pictures, I’m really struck by the gorgeous spring light that day. I love the way it streams through the windows lighting up all the bright decorations and party atmosphere.

I can’t help reflect, after such a difficult 2020, on seeing all these people happily mingling, hugging, laughing, singing - just being human.

One can only hope that as I write this in mid-December 2020, that 2021 will be better and such scenes will again be normal and not the exception.
