Candid family photography on a Rollei 35 LED and Ilford HP5 Plus

- Shooting in the moment -

Here is some candid family photography shot over a couple of dark January days in lockdown. Pretty much the whole roll of film on show here.

Shot using my bashed up, but still awesome, Rollei 35 LED film camera which is one of the smallest 35mm cameras ever produced. The film I used is Ilford HP5 Plus, pushing it 3 stops in development so that I could make the most of the weak winter light and zone focus.

I love using the Rollei 35 LED camera; so simple and effective and unashamedly imperfect. Pushing the film 3 stops has given the pictures a contrasty, grainy look. Both film and camera encourage a relaxed, carefree way of shooting that is in the moment and unencumbered with notions of ‘perfection.’
