A Favourite Photo - Bride’s Mum

- A proud moment –

Down Hall wedding photography-0021.jpg

This is a shot of Tess’ mum during bridal preparation at Down Hall Hotel and Spa, Hertfordshire.

First off, I love the composition of the shot. Tess’ mum is nicely framed within a frame; this leads the eye into the picture. The way Tess’ mum is looking over at her daughter is also well timed and engaging. The black and white treatment, with its light and dark tones, simplifies the picture and focuses attention.

I think that pictures like this of the bride’s mum (and dads!) have a real story-telling strength that will stand the test of time. In years to come this shot, that connects daughter and mum at a real ‘rite-of-passage’ moment, will become the most important and emotional from the pictures taken that day.

I always encourage brides to consider having their bridal prep photographed precisely because of shots like this.
